Since 1992, John Corvino has been challenging audiences to rethink assumptions in the so-called “culture wars.” Dr. Corvino is Professor of Philosophy and incoming dean of the Irvin D. Reid Honors College at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
He is the author of numerous articles and three Oxford University Press books: Debating Same-Sex Marriage (with Maggie Gallagher), What’s Wrong with Homosexuality?, and, most recently. Debating Religious Liberty and Discrimination (with Ryan T. Anderson and Sherif Girgis). Until 2011, Corvino’s column “The Gay Moralist” appeared weekly at 365gay.com; he has also contributed to The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Detroit Free Press, the Advocate, the Huffington Post, The New Republic, Slate, Salon, and Commonweal. Corvino’s online videos have received over two million views. An award-winning teacher, he has spoken at over 250 campuses on issues of sexuality, ethics, and marriage—using his trademark combination of logical precision, sensitivity, and humor.
